Snook boys win Koppers Relays team title

The Snook Bluejays won the boys’ team title at last Thursday’s Koppers Relays in Somerville to start of the 2023 track season. Snook scored a total of 99 points to beat out rival Somerville which placed second with 87 points. Hearne was third with 55 points.

Becker earns 300th strikeout

Even though Aubrey Becker is only a sophomore, the Lady Jay pitching ace has hit a milestone few who have played four years in high school have hit -- she has earned her 300th high school career strikeout.
THE LADY HORNET SOCCER TEAM won their final home game last Friday night against Manor New Tech. The team also honored senior players during the game. The Lady Hornets will finish out their season on the road in Taylor this Friday, March 10.

Snook falls to Frost, Bremond at tournament

The Snook Bluejays lost to Frost 8-7 on Friday, March 3, and to Bremond 8-2 on Saturday, March 4, at the Bremond Tournament. Caden Schluens was 6-6 at the plate for the two games and had a walk.

Last week against Giddings, Becker hit the 300th career strikeout milestone in only her second year as a Lady Jay. The sophomore pitched the entire seven-inning game for a 9-3 win, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out 14 Lady Buffs.

Last week at the Koppers Relays, Bryant won the boys’ 200-meter dash with a time of 23.71 and placed second in the boys’ 100-meter dash with a time of 11.31.

Yeguas lose three at Somerville Tournament

The Somerville Yeguas lost three games last Friday and Saturday at their home tournament -- 12-4 to St. Joseph Catholic, 14-7 to Bartlett and 14-4 to Brookshire Royal. Against St. Joseph, the Yeguas trailed 6-0 after two innings and 11-1 after three.

Last Tuesday, the Lady Yeguas opened district play with an 18-7 stomping of Iola on the road. Abigail Flencher had a great game at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a homer in the fourth and singles in the fifth, sixth and seventh. She had three runs scored and four RBIs.

Last Friday, the Caldwell tennis team traveled to Madisonville and played in the Mustang Invitational Varsity #2 Tournament with Connor Hughson and Waylon Chapman placing first in Boys Doubles.
