The Number 1 ranked Stanford Cardinals defeated No. 2 Oregon Ducks and No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies in the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship on May 25 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Stanford was the top seed of the 72 teams competing for the National Championship.

CHS to host girls summer leagues

Though the school year may be over, sports in the area will continue. Caldwell High School athletics is hosting a girls’ basketball summer league and is co-hosting a softball summer league with Cameron. Both leagues will have games played in June.

Former Lady Hornet and Grayson College Viking Hailey Vess has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Javelina softball program. Her first season as a Javelina will be in 2023.

The Caldwell Junior High girls golf team placed first and the boys placed third on Thursday, May 19, in their final tournament of the season in Franklin. The Lady Hornets team included Tanzley Johnson, Sarah Boniol, Kaylee Bennett, Lucy Ferguson and Kameryn Hill.
