Yeguas win 42-41 in OT over Burton

The Somerville Yeguas rallied last Friday from a 35-21 deficit to tie Burton in regulation play and then got a dramatic quarterback sack on Burton’s 2-point conversion try in overtime to win 42-41.

Lady Yeguas fall to Burton, Mumford

The Lady Yeguas had a rough week last week, falling to both Number 17 Burton and Mumford.Last Tuesday, Somerville was on the road in Burton, losing to the Lady Panthers 5-25, 1325, 21-25.Anette Reyna led Somerville with five kills.

Snook gets fast start but falls to Bartlett 41-12

The Snook Bluejays got off to a fast start last Friday, but Bartlett’s offense took control thereafter for a 41-12 win.Bartlett improved to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in district play, while Snook fell to 0-6 and 0-3.

Hornets fall behind early, lose to Giddings 52-35

The Caldwell Hornets got behind early and were unable to catch up in a 52-35 road loss last Friday in the district opener at Giddings.It was a rough night for the Hornet defense -- which gave up 515 total yards, including 441 on the ground.

CJH’s Sims wins junior high girls district meet

Caldwell’s Ajriana Sims won the girls race at the district junior high cross country meet last Tuesday at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell.Sims finished the race 11 seconds ahead of the second place runner, Lainey Siska of Sealy, with her time of 13:40.

Lady Hornet vball falls to Giddings, beats La Grange

The Lady Hornets earned their second district win last Tuesday night at home -- a four-set victory over La Grange.However, Caldwell suffered another district road loss in Giddings on Friday to move to 2-3 in District 22-4A.

Hornets falter in 52-7 road loss to Lexington Eagles

It was a long night for Caldwell last Friday in a road test against unbeaten, top 10-ranked Lexington, with the Hornets giving up 466 total yards in a 52-7 loss.

CHS’ Ellis qualifies for Regional XC Meet

Caldwell’s Spencer Ellis finished seventh at the 4A District 22-4A Cross Country Meet on Monday at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell -- qualifying for the regional meet.The regional meet will be held at Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park in Huntsville on Oct. 21.The Class 4A boys will run at 10:30 a.m.

Yeguas offense rolls in 41-33 win at Iola

The Somerville Yeguas, getting more confident every week, dominated for a third straight week in a 41-33 road win last Friday at Iola.The Yeguas built an early lead, overcame some second half turnovers and became opportunistic on defense with four intercepted passes.
