Isom, Kienow named to All-District 1st team

Somerville’s Janaya Isom and Snook’s Dakota Kienow were named to the District 26-2A girls basketball All-District First Team.Isom led the Lady Yeguas this season in several categories.She scored 322 points, pulled down 255 rebounds and had 105 steals and 31 blocks.

Caldwell players earn All-District honors

Five Caldwell High School basketball players earned All-District 22-4A honors at the conclusion of the 202526 season.Caldwell sophomore Krush Strangewas named Newcomer of the Year.Senior Cayden Zboril was named to the All-District Second Team.

Area players named to 26-2A All District Team

Jimmy Kearney of Snook and Ja’Keith Daniels of Somerville were named to the All-District 26-2A First Team for the 2025-26 season.John Carr and Ke’Treen Carter of Snook were named to the second team.The district MVP was Kellen Bowser of Hearne.

Lady Hornets open district with win

Before the Lady Hornets could enjoy their Spring Break, they took care of business -- defeating Bellville in their district opener 9-6.Last Tuesday, March 10, Caldwell traveled to Brahmanette country and gave a strong offensive showing.

CHS falls to Chaparral, beats Anderson-Shiro

The Caldwell Hornets lost to Killeen Chaparral 10-4 on Tuesday, March 10, in Killeen and defeated Anderson- Shiro 6-3 at home last Thursday.Caldwell was 7-6-1 headed into this week’s games.

CHS’ Ellis places at Burnet Relays

While most students took time off during Spring Break, Caldwell’s Spencer Ellis competed at the Burnet Bulldog Relays last Thursday, March 12 -- earning two medals and breaking a school record.In the boys varsity 800-meter run, Ellis placed second with a time of 1:58.57.

CHS boys take 3rd, girls 5th at Cameron Tourney

The Caldwell Hornets boys golf team placed third and the Lady Hornets placed fifth last week at the Cameron Tournament.The boys scored 358 on Monday, March 2, at the Cameron Country Club, and the girls scored a 459 on Tuesday, March 3 at the same location.

Lady Jays fall to Trinity, Bremond

The Lady Jays had a tough last week, losing to both Trinity and Bremond by 10 or more points per game.Last Tuesday, March 3, Snook hosted Trinity, falling 16-6.Madison Davis led Snook at the plate, going 2-for-3 -- including a double in the second inning -- and scoring two runs.

Snook loses road games to Bremond, Abbott

The Snook Bluejays lost two road games last week to Bremond 15-1 on March 3 and to Abbott 13 on March 6.Against Bremond, Snook scored its lone run in the top of the first inning while surrendering 3 runs through the first 2 innings and 12 runs in the bottom of the fourth.
