Man falls off jet ski, drowns at Welch Park

A 28-year-old man drowned last Saturday, July 12, at Welch Park at Lake Somerville after falling off a jet ski in the park’s island area.Klinard Wilson, Jr., of the Katy-Houston area was pronounced dead at the scene by Burleson County Pct.
THIS TRUCK WAS damaged in a three-vehicle collision on Tuesday morning on State Highway 21, just west of Caldwell. Two ambulances responded to the scene, and several persons were transported to an area hospital. There were no details on the accident at press time.

Teachers, staff and administrators will see increases in their pay when Snook ISD opens for 2025-2026 The Snook School Board held a special meeting on July 9 and voted to give the district’s employees pay raises for the upcoming school year.

Bridge work done on CR 146, old trusses remain

The historic original trusses on the old iron bridge on County Road 146 were preserved and installed last week on the newly constructed bridge.The trusses, considered historical remnants, were set on the new bridge on Wednesday, July 2, and they were welded onto it on Thursday, July 3.
