POSGCD board approves SRL production permits

The Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) has approved on a 9-1 vote two groundwater production permits sought by SLR Property I, LP, owners of the former Alcoa property, following the recommendation of the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH).

Commissioners buy new road equipment

Burleson County commissioners approved the purchase of an asphalt distributor truck from Houston Freightliner for $305,898 and a chipspreader from R.B. Everett & Co. of Houston for $384,671 at their Monday, April 14, meeting.

The Burleson County Tribune was honored by the Texas Gulf Coast Press Association (TGCPA) on Saturday during the 2025 TGCPA Convention in New Braunfels with 13 awards from its annual “Better Newspaper Contest.

Man charged in assault on woman

A 37-year-old Caldwell man was arrested on Sunday, April 13, on felony charges of assault and unlawful restraint in connection with a Saturday night assault on a woman in the 1300 block of 10th Street in Caldwell.

Woman charged in drug possession

A Caldwell woman was arrested on Saturday night, April 12, on a felony drug possession charge after a Caldwell Police traffic stop on State Highway 21 West.

Camera, lenses stolen from shed

Burleson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the recent burglary of a storage shed in which a camera and two lenses were stolen in the 300 block of Wolf Run Street in Somerville Place Subdivision.
