An early Sunday morning fire destroyed a home on Sundown Road near Chriesman, leaving three family members seriously injured and flown by helicopters to area hospitals.

The Texas Czech Genealogical Society (TCGS) is hosting “From the Czech Lands to Texas” on Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Caldwell Civic Center.Registration and morning refreshments will begin at 8 a.m. with the program at 9 a.m.Tickets are $40 per person for TCGS members and $45 for nonmembers until Jan.

Not much to the snow show

It wasn’t much to see, but the county did receive a thin blanket of snow on Monday night into Tuesday morning.Officially, the county received less than an inch of snow, but it was enough to be able to build small snowmen or, in one Facebook posting’s case, a snow dinosaur.

Rotary Club hits it big with Casino Night event

The Caldwell Rotary Club hit it big at their annual Casino Night event on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Caldwell Civic Center.With approximately 180 attendees, the event raised money to support the Rotary Club throughout the year.

The City of Caldwell will hold a public workshop regarding proposed amendments to the subdivision ordinance and infrastructure design guidelines and standards at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Caldwell Civic Center.The workshop will follow the regularly scheduled January city council meeting.
