Denim, Dinner, Dancing Gala set for Saturday

The Caldwell Burleson County Lions Club is hosting its fifth annual Denim, Dinner and Dancing Gala this Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Caldwell Civic Center.The event will begin at 6 p.m. with social hour, with dinner served at 7 p.m.

Deanville, Snook VFDs get grants from Forest Service

Texas A&M Forest Service approved an additional $14 million in funding for grants to Texas volunteer fire departments on Feb. 13, and Snook and Deanville were included.Deanville Volunteer Fire Department was awarded $25,000 for Personal Protective Equipment.

AgriLife Extension shares cotton jassid guidance for green industry

Texas A&M AgriLife scientists continue to assess potential impacts and prepare strategies to control a new invasive pest -- the two-spot cotton leafhopper, also known as the cotton jassid -- that is impacting Texas’ ornamental nursery industry and threatens future cotton production.

Texas row crop producers are heading into planting season amid early weather uncertainty, shifting price relationships in major commodities and ongoing economic pressure from high input costs, according to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service economists.

Cool-season vegetable growers have challenges

Harvests continue for South Texas vegetable growers as irrigation shortages and persistent drought impact cool-season crop production, said Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service experts.
