Brush pile fire burns 6 acres off County Road 132

A controlled burn brush pile that got out of control on Sunday afternoon off County Road 132 burned about 6 acres of a neighbor’s property and a half an acre of a wooded area.

TV, cable boxes stolen in home burglary case

Burleson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the recent burglary of a home in the 200 block of Oak Ridge in Somerville Place Subdivision off Park Road 4 where a television and TV cable boxes were stolen.Sheriff Bill Rios said the burglary was reported by the property owner on Thursday, Jan.

Donkey shot to death on CR 145

Burleson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating an animal cruelty case involving a donkey that was recently shot to death in the 600 block of County Road 145.The owner noticed the donkey missing when she went to feed it on Sunday, Jan. 4, and noticed the gate open, Sheriff Bill Rios said.

Deputies investigate counterfeit incident

A woman attempted to purchase a cash app card on Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Dollar General Store on County Road 410 using a counterfeit $100 bill, but the store manager caught it and made him pay with legal cash.

Grand Jury returns 4 felony indictments

The Burleson County Grand Jury met in regular session on Tuesday, Jan. 6, and returned four felony indictments.Only the names of those arrested are released and include: * Christopher Scott Sily, 48, of San Antonio; driving while intoxicated with child under 15 years of age -- state jail felony.

POSGCD board to hold hearing on water permit

The Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District was scheduled to hold a public hearing at its Tuesday, Jan. 13 meetingt, and to consider approval by Lauren Concrete of Rockdale for a water production permit from the Hooper Aquifer.
