The Caldwell Hornets opened district play with a 60-38 home win over Smithville last Friday, earning their sixth win in their last eight games. Caldwell, who improved to 10-13 overall, took a 31-18 halftime lead and then completely dominated the third quarter with a 21-5 run to make it 52-23.
