Bobby Glen Thompson, 91, of Deanville, peacefully passed away on February 23, 2025.
Born on September 11, 1933, in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana, Bobby was the son of Ruby Rae Nichols and Lester Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Glenn; and his sisters, Doris Owens and Gladys Tyra, along with their spouses Jim Owens and Bill Tyra.
Bobby is lovingly remembered by his companion of 15 years, Joyce Phillips; his daughter-inlaw, Carol Thompson; his grandchildren, Dana and Russell Spacek, and Amy and Floyd Fritcher Jr.; as well as his great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Spacek, Barrett Spacek and Grace Fritcher. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Sherry Elstner, and her son, Derek Elstner.
Bobby began his career with Southern Pacific Railroad at the young age of 17, marking the start of a long and fulfilling professional journey.
His entrepreneurial spirit led him to several ventures in Houston, where he owned car washes, grocery stores, car lots and built homes, along with developing strip centers.
In the later years of his life, Bobby retired to his cherished ranch in Deanville, where he made his home for over 50 years.
Bobby’s love for music was well known.
He enjoyed picking and grinning with family and friends, sharing his joy and passion for life. A natural connector of people, he often gathered friends and family to impart his wisdom and offer a listening ear. His generosity, wit and zest for life touched many, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Bobby’s life was held at Phillips & Lucky Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
A burial service will follow at Cooper Cemetery in Merryville, Louisiana, on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
