A memorial service for Roger Keith Moore, 83, of Somerville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at the Birch Creek Community Center at 107 Lake Dr. in Somerville.
Roger was born on Dec. 13, 1942, in Pine Grove, West Virginia, to Charles Edward and Cecile Irene (Wildman) Moore.
He grew up in Reader, West Virginia, and moved to Texas in 1962.
Roger worked many years in the Dallas area as an auto mechanic, then as a machinist until his retirement.
His lifelong passions were working on cars and fishing.
Roger met his companion of many years, Thelma Shivers, and they enjoyed retired life in Somerville, spending countless hours at Lake Somerville State Park fishing and boating, and traveling with friends until her passing in 2004.
In his later years, Roger enjoyed gardening, tinkering in the garage and baking sweets to eat and share with friends and neighbors.
He died on Jan. 8, 2026. Roger is survived by one daughter and her husband; four sisters; one brother; one sister-in-law; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
