Chilifest brought more than 38,000 people to The Legendary Snook Rodeo & Starlight Ballroom last weekend. However, festival planners months ago probably did not expect temperatures to drop into the 50s...in April.

Historical marker dedicated at church

The faithful parishioners of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church on F.M. 2000 celebrated the dedication of their Texas Historical Marker on Saturday.It was a day to celebrate church members still worshipping there and their predecessors, who started their ministry about 140 years ago.

A story that ran in the April 3 edition of the Burleson County Tribune addressing the F.M. 50 and 60 intersection should have clarified that the traffic lights to be installed there will be fully actuated traffic signals.That means red, yellow and green lights, not a flashing red stop light.

Man aims gun at people in vehicle

Burleson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a case in which a man pointed a gun at four persons in a vehicle late Saturday, April 5, in Beaver Creek Subdivision before they sped away.No shots were fired, and no one was injured, said Chief Deputy Bill Rios.

A man assaulted a woman holding a baby on Thursday, April 3, on County Road 229, drug her out of the house and then poured antifreeze on her and the child before fleeing with a gun into a nearby wooded area.The incident occurred in the 1500 block at about 7:30 p.m.

Building materials stolen at Snook area construction site

Someone stole thousands of dollars worth of building materials from a Snook-area home construction site late Wednesday, April 2, or early Thursday, April 3, and Burleson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the case as a felony theft.The theft was reported at 9:50 a.m.
