Local man killed in head-on crash

A Burleson County man and a Brazos County woman were killed early Sunday, Jan. 12, in a head-on collision in the 6800 block of John Sharp Parkway in Bryan.Both drivers died on scene and a passenger in the Burleson County man’s car was seriously injured, according to Bryan police.

Oil well site burns after blast

An explosion occurred Tuesday morning, Jan, 14, off F.M. 2000 in Hix at an oil well owned by Magnolia Oil & Gas, destroying three oil tanks and a salt water tank.Caldwell and Cooks Point volunteer firefighters responded to a private oil field road at 10880 F.M.

Burleson Co. gets $400,000 federal planning grant

Burleson County has received a $400,000 planning grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation as a first step towards a possible shot at up to $25 million for some street and drainage work at Cade Lake Subdivision.

Woman injured after vehicle hits hog on F.M. 1361

A Somerville woman was injured on the night of Wednesday, Jan. 1, when her car struck a wild hog on F.M. 1361.The accident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. when Kathleen Griffin, 64, was traveling alone, southwest on F.M. 1361 in a white, 2021 Nissan Altima, said DPS Sgt. Justin Stohler.

Women arrested on felony charges

Two Caldwell women were arrested on felony charges on Sunday, January 5, one burglary of habitation charge in connection with an Aug. 14, 2024 incident, and one with hindering apprehension of a felon.
