Fire damages porch at Cade Lake home

A porch was damaged by fire on Monday morning, Jan. 6, at Elm and Carhall drives at Cade Lake Subdivision, but firefighters were able to quickly extinguish it and prevent damage to the home.

Woman charged in drug possession

A Somerville woman was charged with felony drug possession on Saturday, Jan. 4.Tammy Lynn Freeman, 53, was charged with possession of a controlled substance Penalty Group 1, less than one gram and remains in Burleson County custody on $4500 bond, according to a trooper’s report.

With the arrival of the new year, January has also brought Burleson County the coldest air so far this winter.December 21 marked the official start of the winter season, with January through March usually bringing the coldest temperatures to Texas.

Cardiac rehabilitation may seem like a highly specialized service -- one of those “go to Bryan” treatments.However, St. Joseph Health Burleson Hospital wants county residents to know you get that at home.

KJT Society to host polka dance, dinner on Jan. 11

The KJT Society #12 will host its annual dinner and polka dance fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Frenstat Recreation Center.The event will feature live music by The Red Ravens, a Texas polka band, and the “famous” Frenstat hamburgers.

Fire damages unoccupied house off County Road 244

A fire severely damaged an unoccupied house on Monday, Jan. 6, off County Road 244, and the cause remains unknown.No foul play is suspected, and the building and contents were a total loss, said Snook Volunteer Firefighter Beth Collins.
