Burleson County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Caldwell man late Sunday night, Sept. 22, on felony charges of evading and tampering with physical evidence.

Kolkhorst named to joint committee of media on minors

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick appointed Senator Lois W. Kolkhorst (R-Brenham) to a newly-formed Joint Committee to Study the Effects of Media on Minors.The committee is in accordance with House Bill 18 that passed during the 88th Legislature.

POSGCD Board postpones vote on rules amendments

The Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District’s board has postponed action until its Oct. 8 meeting for major rules amendments after an attorney for Sandow Lakes Ranch (SLR) said notices for a Sept. 10 public hearing and vote were not posted with enough legal notice.

County sales tax revenues show decrease in September

Sales tax revenues showed a decrease for September 2024 from September 2023 for Burleson County in Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar’s latest monthly report.The cities of Caldwell and Somerville also showed decreases. However, the City of Snook showed an increase.

Novosad wins queen’s category in Burleson County Fair Parade

Last Saturday, this year’s Burleson County Fair officially kicked off with the annual Burleson County Fair Parade.The event was held in downtown Caldwell showcasing this year’s fair theme: “Let the Good Times Roll” -- a nod to Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

County organizations hope to benefit from Brazos Valley Gives

The annual Brazos Valley Gives event is set for Oct. 15, and 17 Burleson County nonprofits are hoping to benefit from the annual event.Early giving began on Sept. 16.Brazos Valley Gives is in its sixth year, featuring 18 hours of online giving throughout the Brazos Valley.
