Filings begin for city, school elections

Filings have begun for those wishing to run for a position on local city councils and school boards and will continue until Feb. 13 at 5 p.m.The election for positions on city councils and school boards will be Saturday, May 2.The first day to file for the May 2 election was Wednesday, Jan. 14.

The Rotary Club of Caldwell is placing its bet on having another successful Casino Night this Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Burleson County Expo Center.The annual event is a fun-filled evening to raise money to fund the organization’s area service projects and scholarships.Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

CVFD responds to postal van blaze on F.M. 3058

Caldwell volunteer firefighters responded on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 31, 2025, to a U.S. Postal Service van on fire on F.M. 3058 and extinguished it by using foam under it.The fire was likely due to a mechanical issue in the engine compartment, said Caldwell Fire Chief Harry Bowers.

Driver arrested on drug charge

A Caldwell police officer arrested Shreveport, Louisiana man on Thursday, Jan. 1, on a felony drug charge after a traffic stop on State Highway 21 West.

Cause of pickups on fire remains unknown

The State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the scene of two Dec. 29 pickup fires in the driveway of a home at 807 Meadow Brook Drive in Caldwell, but a cause is still unknown, said Caldwell Fire Chief Harry Bowers.No foul play is suspected, Bowers said.
