Reforestation initiative offers $3.2M in funding

Texas forest and woodland landowners can receive up to $80,000 for reforestation practices on their property after natural disaster losses. Texas A&M Forest Service’s Texas Resilient Landscapes Initiative is offering $3.2 million in cost-share funding over the next four years.

Man arrested in online solicitation of minor

The Burleson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Burton man on Monday, Dec. 22, on a felony charge of online solicitation of a minor as part of an ongoing investigation into sex crimes.

Caldwell volunteer firefighters responded to two pickup fires late Monday night, Dec. 29, in the driveway of a home at 807 Meadow Brook Drive in Caldwell, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office has been asked to investigate.

Fire damages house on Cedar Creek Road

A fire damaged the kitchen area of a home on Cedar Creek Road off County Road 333 on Friday, Dec. 26, and caused extensive smoke damage, making the home unlivable for Elizabeth McKay and family members.

Snook EEA Scholarship DanceSnook EEA will host a dance on Dec. 31 from 7:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m., featuring Waylon Thibodeaux, “Louisiana’s Rockin’ Fiddler,” at the Snook SPJST Hall.Tickets are $20 each in advance and $25 each at the door -- and will include black-eyed peas, cornbread and more.

Main Street celebrates successes in 2025

The Main Street program in Caldwell got a lift in 2025 with some renovations and new businesses opening, and they are planning a busy year in 2026.
