RRC issues no new oil, gas permits in September

The Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) issued no new oil well drilling permits in Burleson County in September.The RRC report is for newly approved permits in the county, not for drill sites which were previously permitted.

Burleson County lifts outdoor burning ban

Burleson County has lifted its outdoor burning ban, effective Monday, Dec. 1.The county had implemented the ban on Oct. 9 until further notice, citing excessive dry conditions, as a safety precaution.

Caldwell on track for electric power projects

Two of the biggest projects in Caldwell’s history -- the new LCRA electric substation and the city’s new distribution lines to convert to the ERCOT power grid -- are on schedule and should be complete by mid-March.

Local author set to release new book, podcast in 2026

Growing up in Snook Johnny Martinez-Carroll dreamed of becoming an author and motivational speaker -- dreams that seemed far out of reach in his childhood, which he said was defined by poverty and low self-esteem.

Local primary filings end Dec. 8

Monday, Dec. 8, is the final day to file for the March primaries. The deadline is at 6 p.m.And, two more Republicans filed since last week in the March primary for local races.
