County sales tax increases slightly in October 2025

Sales tax revenues showed a slight increase for October 2025 from October 2024 for Burleson County in Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock’s latest monthly report.And, the cities of Caldwell and Somerville also showed increases, according to the acting comptroller.

Commissioners OK jail fire safety work

Burleson County commissioners approved a proposal for work on the county jail’s fire/smoke evacuation system with Capstone Mechanical of Waco at their Monday, Oct. 27, meeting.The initial proposal’s costs total $28,835 and include improvements to fire safety throughout the building.

Caldwell ISD approves technology purchases

The Caldwell ISD school board approved the purchase of 88 new teacher laptops, with a total cost of $61,345, at its Monday, Oct. 27 meeting.
