County to have new EMC soon

Burleson County has hired a new emergency management coordinator to replace Duane Strange, who recently accepted a position with the Brazos County Emergency Management Department.County Judge Keith Schroeder said the new EMC will be announced shortly and will begin on Monday, Sept. 15.

Scam calls use SISD as subject

Somerville ISD officials are warning residents and businesses in the Somerville area about two phone scams with callers pretending to represent people and organizations within the district.

Somerville to continue search for administrator

The City of Somerville is nowhere close to hiring a city administrator after a three-month search, so additional applicants must be considered.And they will not rush the process, Somerville Mayor Tommy Thompson said. Thompson said on Monday, Sept.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church celebrates 130 years

St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Caldwell recently celebrated 130 years of existence with Jubilee celebration ceremonies held on Sunday, Aug. 31, with the Very Reverend James Misko of the Diocese of Austin and Father Melvin Dornak, pastor of St. Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes.

County fair parade registration ends Sept. 5

The deadline to register to participate in the Burleson County Fair Association’s (BCFA) fair parade is Friday, Sept. 5.The parade is Saturday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. in downtown Caldwell.Civic and youth organizations, businesses and schools are encouraged to participate in the parade.
