Carol Sue (Lewis) Brinkman

Carol Sue (Lewis) Brinkman passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at home surrounded by family.

Carol was born on September 14, 1949, in Brenham, to Harold and Lottie (Schluens) Lewis.

She married the love of her life Sammy Brinkman on August 30, 1969, and together they were blessed with three daughters.

Carol loved her family, spending time with them, and creating a welcoming, festive home decorated for each holiday as she enjoyed making special memories down to the smallest detail.

Her hobbies included casino trips, playing bunco and mahjong, Wild Wing Wednesday and Finally Friday with Sammy and friends, shopping with her daughters and granddaughters and game days with her sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John E. Lewis and Glenn A. Lewis; brothers-in-law, Wally Lee, Dale Schoenberg, Stanley Brinkman Jr. and Ricky Brinkman Sr.; sister-in-law, Kathy Brinkman; and in-laws, Stanley and Bernice Brinkman.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Sammy Brinkman; daughters, Jamie Brinkman, Kara (Jerry) Smith, and Amanda (Aaron) Flencher; grandchildren, Xristion Smith, Abigail Flencher, Aubrey Flencher and Xristiana Smith; sisters, Ginger Lee, Brenda Schoenberg and Teresa (Guy) Hargrove; brother, Harold Lewis Jr.; sisters-in-law, Barbara Lewis, Barbie Lewis, Linda Brinkman, Beatrice Brinkman and Gina (Dennis) Engelmann; brothers-in-law, Aldie (Alice) Brinkman and Randy Brinkman; and many more extended family to include nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins.

A visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville on Friday, May 9, 2025, with the visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. and Celebration of Life at 7:00 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Somerville.

A columbarium ceremony will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery for the immediate family.

Family and friends are invited for a meal and fellowship at St. Ann’s Catholic Church Hall following the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests a memorial be made to St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Oaklawn Cemetery Association, or a charity of your choice.

The family expresses their sincere gratitude for the many prayers and kindness throughout Carol’s illness.
