CLYDE “ALLEN” MOORE

Clyde “Allen” Moore, 90, of Caldwell, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, March 18, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. Allen was born May 19, 1935, in Burleson County to Clyde Woodford Moore and Floria Belle Dotson. He was one of five children. He attended Happy Hills School and Caldwell schools until the 10th-grade, when he left to help on the family farm. In 1955, he proudly joined the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He was honorably discharged in 1957 with the rank of sergeant.

He later served in the Army Reserves at the airbase at Texas A&M, where he met and married the love of his life, Fannie Mae Nelson, in August 1959. Together, they were blessed with five children.

Allen was a lifelong member of the Caldwell Church of Christ.

He began his working career in the Army Reserves before transitioning to Washington National Insurance Company.

He later worked for Hooker Chemical in Dallas, and after seven years, returned to the Hix Community in 1971 to help save the family farm.

Over the next 35 years, Allen worked several jobs, including at the shoe factory in Bryan, the Texas A&M Research Annex, and most notably with Superior Fuel and Ferrellgas in Caldwell.

Allen enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening.

He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his family. From sunrise to sunset, he could often be found cutting and stacking wood—sometimes having as many as 30 cords in his yard. He worked tirelessly to provide for those he loved.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years, Fannie Mae “Nelson” Moore; his son, Nelson Moore and wife, Carmen; daughters, Rebecca Graham and husband, David, Cheryl Rose, and Mary Sacksteder and husband, Loren. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Lauren, Carson, Dalton, Kailey, Thomas, Monica, Ashley, Caleb, Shelby-Lynn, Elias, Ayden, and Spencer; 15 great-grandchildren, with one great-granddaughter on the way.

He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth Moore; along with numerous in-laws, including Wilford Nelson and Patsy Nichols, Velma Mayes, Katie and Bruce Albright, Dina Valenta, Edna and Jeff Bridges, Donald and Narissa Valenta, Judy and Billy Seamans; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
