Craig passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026, at his home in Jasper.
He was born on September 30, 1945, into a farming and ranching family in Chriesman.
From his earliest days, he found joy in the rhythms of country life -- riding his beloved horse Coreen, working alongside his father, Hubert Floyd, and rounding up cattle under the wide Texas sky. His love for the land and its traditions stayed with him throughout his life.
A devoted family man, Craig deeply loved his wife, Karen, his five children, his nine grandchildren and his 10 greatgrandchildren.
Generous and kind, he was always the first to lend a hand to anyone in need, offering support, encouragement, and friendship freely to all who knew him.
Craig was an exceptional carpenter with a remarkable talent for building. Many of the fences and structures he crafted over 50 years ago stand to this day -- a testament to his skill, patience and care in all he did.
He also had a strong passion for music, especially country music. His voice -- whether singing around the house, at family gatherings or simply to entertain those he loved -- brought laughter and brightness to many moments.
In 1969, Craig graduated from Sam Houston College in Huntsville.
For the next 10 years, Craig dedicated his life to education as a high school teacher in the Caldwell and Conroe independent school districts, inspiring students in agriculture, horticulture, shop and biology. He even drove the school bus at times, embodying his love for young people and his commitment to his community.
He was well-loved by students, faculty and all who walked the halls with him.
After his time in teaching, Craig pursued a new path and started his own oil field-related business. This opportunity grew into a long and successful career in the oil and gas industry, taking him as far as Venezuela, where he evaluated properties for American-based companies. Through dedication and expertise, he made lasting contributions to his profession.
Craig’s life was one of hard work, laughter, love and service. He will be remembered for his steady hands, his warm heart and the joy he brought to family and friends. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he created.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Karen, and his loving family, who will carry his spirit forward with pride and gratitude.
