Funeral services for Mildred Evelyn Miman,95, of Caldwell, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Deanville, with Pastor Terry Moon officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Deanville.
The family will receive visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., prior to services, at the church.
Mildred Evelyn Miman, 95, of Caldwell, passed away on August 18, 2026.
She was born to the late Charles and Estella (Sultemeier) Lehmann in Fredericksburg.
She attended three rural schools and graduated from Johnson City High School, as Salutatorian, in 1949.
She attended Southwest Texas State College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree and two years later, with a Master’s of Education.
She taught school in Hallettsville I.S.D., Bloomington I.S.D., Snook I.S.D., three Burleson County schools, and concluded her career at Caldwell I.S.D., totaling 32 years.
Mildred grew up in Blanco County on her father’s ranch, riding horseback, helping him and learning the ranching business, beginning at the age of ten years old.
She liked to hunt, fish and take care of animals. She always had a pet.
She enjoyed traveling, dancing, reading, flowers, baking and hard work.
She had many interests. While living in Victoria, in 1961, she met the love of her life, F.J. Miman, from Deanville, during deer hunting season on her father’s ranch.
They married the following year, on June, 23, 1962, and moved to Caldwell where F.J. was employed by the Farm Service Agency until his sudden death, in March 1970. It was believed to have been caused by a scorpion’s sting at the ranch in Blanco County.
Mildred continued to teach in Snook and managed their acreage near Deanville and the Blanco County place since her father had passed away, in 1967.
She was the first woman to be elected to St. John’s Lutheran Church council and the first woman to be elected and serve on the County Farm Service Agency.
In 1980, she built a house on the Deanville property, making it easier to tend to her cattle there. She enjoyed going to her place in Blanco County; often taking friends from here with her. One of her happiest times were driving her Jeep and checking the cattle.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepmother; and half-brother.
She is survived by her husband’s nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Deanville Volunteer Fire Department, Sons of Herrman Lodge, Deanville Heritage Foundation, N.R.A. and Southwestern Cattlemen’s Rancher’s Association.
She was a strong supporter and volunteered whenever possible.
She also volunteered at St. Joseph Manor and the Christian Care store for many years.
Mildred will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
