Funeral services for Kenneth Wayne Pittman, 79, of Somerville, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at Strickland Funeral Home, 545 8th Street, Somerville, Texas, 77879.
He was born on Jan. 23, 1943, in Galveston, Texas, to Albert and Christine Pittman.
He met the love of his life in high school and never looked back. He and Claudia were attached at the hip from day one of their 60-year marriage.
Ken served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Crisis. He was stationed in Germany.
His careers included: meat market manager, real estate agent, and a master boat technician.
He was also known as The Firecracker, from his 20 years in the fireworks business.
Upon retirement, one could find him at the local poker room or at his barbecue pit cooking brisket.
He died peacefully at his home on Oct. 23, 2022, in Somerville, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia Buchanan Pittman; four children; one sister; 10 grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren.
