Caldwell wins two more, gets to 5-1

The Caldwell Hornets improved to 5-1 in district play with resounding wins over Smithville and AustinAchieve last week. Caldwell defeated Smithville 71-44 on Tuesday, Jan. 16, in Smithville andAustinAchieve 62-23 on Friday, Jan. 19, at home.
CALDWELL HIGH School’s Joshua Heiman-Flanders won a gold medal at the Special Olympics North Regionals Bowling competition on Jan. 19-20. He now has a Bronze, a Silver and two Gold Medals in Special Olympic Bowling competitions.

Lady Hornets pick up two district wins

The Lady Hornets picked up two key district wins last week on the road in Smithville and in Austin at Achieve High School. The game last Wednesday in Smithville was a nail-biter, with Caldwell edging out the Lady Tigers 48-47.

Somerville beats Iola, Normangee, gets to 3-0

The Somerville Yeguas held on to their tie for the district lead with road wins over Iola, 9151, on Wednesday, Jan. 17, and over Normangee, 69-56 last Friday. Somerville improved to 19-5 overall and 3-0 in district play.

Lady Yeguas fall to Iola, Normangee

The Lady Yeguas were 0-2 last week in district play, falling to Iola at home and Normangee on the road. Last Tuesday, Somerville hosted Iola, falling to the Lady Bulldogs 44-11. Viviana Munoz led Somerville in scoring with six points, and Kylie Neuendroff had four.
