Lady Jays win BC Showdown over Lady Yeguas 61-19

The Lady Jays won both rounds of the Burleson County Showdown this season with last Tuesday’s road win over Somerville 61-19. Snook also defeated the Lady Yeguas 6213 at home back on Jan. 5.

Hornets fall 62-40 against La Grange

The Caldwell Hornets were looking to avenge a one-point loss to La Grange in the first round of district play and to move into a firstplace tie in a raucous home game last Friday.

Snook to honor state championship teams

Snook High School’s state champion basketball teams will be honored on Friday, Feb. 9, at Snook Gym prior to the Bluejays’ district game with Somerville. All 10 teams will be honored beginning at about 6 p.m., with members of each team stepping forward to be recognized at midcourt.

Snook falls to Burton 47-38, drops to 1-4

The Snook Bluejays struggled with foul trouble and sent Burton to the free throw line too many times in a 47-38 road loss last Friday. Snook, who also lost to Somerville 54-48 on Jan. 23 in Somerville, fell to 9-16 overall and 1-4 in district play.
During the rivalry game against Somerville last week, Stringfellow led all scorers with 27 points.

During the rivalry game against Somerville last week, Stringfellow led all scorers with 27 points. Last Friday against Mumford, Majied ( “ D 3 ” ) scored 19 points to lead Somerville in the game.

MISSED IT -- I must admit, I didn’t see one single play of the Kansas City Chiefs-Baltimore Ravens game on Sunday afternoon, so tell me what I missed? Or better yet, with the Chiefs only winning by a score of 17-10, tell me what I didn’t miss. Sounded like a boring game. Real boring.

Hornet soccer goes 0-3 in district play

The Caldwell Hornet soccer team opened district last Wednesday with an 8-0 home loss to Rockdale. The game was originally scheduled for last Tuesday, Jan. 23, but was moved due to the heavy rain. Coach Burt Yates said that “injuries have cost us some continuity.

Snook beats Iola 52-45 for first district win

The Snook Bluejays got a big road win last Friday over Iola 52-45, giving them their first district win. Snook, now 1-2 in district play and 9-14 overall, fell to Mumford 6342 on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at home.

Lady Jays fall to Mumford

Last week, the Lady Jays’ Tuesday home game against Mumford was moved to Wednesday due to the icy weather. So, when the Lady Mustangs rode into town, Snook fell to Mumford 46-27. The Lady Mustangs took an early 13-3 lead in the first quarter, and extended their lead to 30-7 by halftime.
