The Snook Bluejays opened their season with a 13-2 road loss to Normangee on Tuesday, Feb. 17, and a 14-8 home loss to Bellville on Friday, Feb. 20.Against Normangee, Snook trailed just 2-0 after 3 innings and tied the score 2-2 before the Panthers added 9 runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Hornets finish season with loss to Navasota

The Caldwell Hornets basketball team completed its season last Tuesday, Feb. 17, with a 92-32 home loss to Navasota.The Rattlers took control early with leads of 25-9 in the first quarter and 56-12 at halftime.

The Caldwell Hornets lost three and tied one at the Madisonville Tournament last week.Caldwell fell to New Waverly 8-4 and to Franklin 12-0 on Thursday, Feb. 19, tied Anderson- Shiro 2-2 on Friday, Feb. 20, and then fell to Groesbeck 4-2 on Saturday, Feb. 21.

The Snook Bluejays fell to Burton 53-51 in their regular season finale last Tuesday, Feb. 17, at home.The loss dropped the Bluejays to 20-13 overall and 5-7 in district play.Snook, who finished fourth in district play, was scheduled to face Sabine Pass on Tuesday, Feb.

CHS golfers finish sixth at La Grange Tournament

The Caldwell boys and girls golf teams finished sixth last week at the La Grange Tournament at Frisch Auf Country Club.The boys, competing on Tuesday, Feb. 17, finished with a team score of 363.Kaden Fritsche led the Hornets with an 81, sixth overall individually.

Lady Yeguas beat Hempstead

Last Friday, the Lady Yeguas hosted Hempstead, easily winning 15-3.Emma Williams led Somervi l le at the plate, driving in four runs on three hits, including an inside the park home run in the first inning, a triple in the second and a single in the third.

BVCHEA had 18 runs in the top of the second inning to lead the team to a 25-0 win over the Lady Jays on Friday.The Lady Mustangs scored those 18 runs on 11 hits in the second after already earning a 4-0 lead in the first innings.

Somerville falls to Granger, St. Joseph to start season

The Somerville Yeguas lost its opening game last week, 16-15 on Tuesday, Feb. 17, against Granger and 21-5 against St. Joseph, both at home.Against Granger, Somerville rallied from an 11-1 deficit in the bottom of the third before scoring 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth to lead 12-11.

The Lady Hornets outscored their opponents 53-5 in the Cameron Lady Yoe Softball Tournament, going undefeated and bringing home the trophy to Caldwell.In their first game on Thursday, the Lady Hornets beat Lampasas 4-0.

In Somerville’s final basketball game of the season last Tuesday night, the Lady Yeguas fell to Burton 53-24.Coach Josh Vela said, “Although we suffered a 29-point defeat, I was proud of the way our girls fought.
