Hornets win four, finish third at Kolache Tourney

The Caldwell Hornets won four of five games at their Kolache Capital Invitational Tournament last weekend, finishing third. The Hornets, 7-4 for the season, defeated Brazos 48-39, Milano 55-45, Waller JV 5548, and College Station JV 58-44 before losing to Somerville 70-53 in their final game.

Hughes to compete in NFR

Caldwell’s Westyn Hughes has punched his ticket to his third National Finals Rodeo (NFR) after finishing the regular season at Number 6 in Tie-down Roping in the PRCA World Standings with a total earnings of $136,447. The NFR will be Dec. 7-16 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lady Hornets fall to Mumford, play in Snook Tournament

Last Tuesday night, Nov. 28, the Lady Hornets traveled to Mumford, falling to the Lady Mustangs 60-27. Mumford went into Tuesday night’s game undefeated. Riley Broaddus led the Lady Hornets in scoring with nine points. Freshman Ireland Morgan also had a solid offensive game, scoring six points.

Lady Jays go 2-3 in Snook Tourney

The Lady Jays earned wins over Caldwell and Hearne at the Snook Lady Jay Basketball Tournament last week. In the first game of the tournament on Thursday, Snook hosted fellow Burleson County team -- the Lady Hornets, winning a close game 27-24.

Lady Yeguas fall to Royal, Hempstead

The Somerville Lady Yeguas hosted Brookshire- Royal on Friday, losing 52-10. Last Tuesday, Somerville traveled to Hempstead, falling 51-12. In the game against Hempstead, Vivianna Munuz led Somerville in scoring with six points.

Yeguas improve to 2-1 with 73-29 Milano win

The Somerville Yeguas grabbed some early momentum and dominated in a 73-29 home win over Milano on Tuesday, Nov. 21, improving to 2-1. The Yeguas led 15-5 in the first quarter and 3614 at halftime. Somerville led 47-21 after three quarters before a 26-8 fourth quarter surge.

Snook falls to Richards 44-31

The Snook Bluejays lost to Richards 44-31 last Tuesday, Nov. 21, in Richards. Snook, who had opened with a home win over New Waverly on Nov. 17, fell to 1-1. Richards grabbed some early momentum with leads of 13-8 in the first quarter, 26-18 at halftime and 36-26 after three quarters.
