Yeguas’ offense struggles in league losses to Iola

The Somerville Yeguas surrendered 13 runs in the top of the fourth inning in a 27-0 home loss to Iola on Tuesday, March 21. The Yeguas also lost to the Bulldogs in the second game, 16-1 on Friday, March 24, in Iola. In game one, the Yeguas trailed 5-0 in the first and 14-0 after three innings.

Lady Jays hold on to beat Lady Yeguas 11-9

The Lady Jays built a nine-run lead in the third inning and then held off a Somerville charge to earn an 11-9 victory last Tuesday in Snook. Somerville got on the board first in the top of the second inning when Wendy Perez scored on a Snook error.

Snook, Somerville run at Bulldog Relays

Last week, Snook and Somerville traveled to Thorndale to compete in the Bulldog Relays. The Snook varsity boys edged Somerville for fifth place in the team standings with a score of 68. Somerville finished with a total of 65 points. Lexington won the team title with a score of 171.

Lady Yeguas hang on to beat Normangee

Somerville had a commanding 11-0 lead after one inning, but weathered a second inning scare by the Lady Panthers when they answered with five runs. Abigail Flencher earned the win for Somerville, going five innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out nine.

Lady Hornets win district opener

Thanks to Kelly Urbanovsky and Jillian Vykukal homers in the third inning to earn a commanding lead, the Lady Hornets opened district at home last Tuesday, hosting Taylor -- beating the Lady Ducks 15-5.

College Station JV beats Lady Yeguas

Last Monday, the Lady Yeguas traveled to College Station, falling to the Lady Cougar JV 13-3 on five innings. Somerville got on the board first, scoring a run in the first inning of a College Station error.

Snook Lady Jays fall to Burton 5-0

The Lady Jays fell behind early in last Tuesday’s matchup against Burton and couldn’t muster a comeback, suffering a 5-0 loss. The Lady Panthers opened up scoring in the first inning when Amaya Williams drew a walk, scoring one run. Allie Biggs led Burton in batting, going 2-of-4.

CHS bass fishermen catch regional berth

After last Saturday’s bass fishing tournament at Lake Limestone, the Caldwell FFA Bass Club has placed teams in the Texas High School Bass Association’s (THSBA) regional tournament to be held at Lake Conroe on April 15.
