CHS advances 15 to regional track meet

Fifteen student-athletes from Caldwell High School have advanced to the UIL Class 4A Region 3 Track & Field Meet which will be in Bullard this Friday and Saturday. To advance to the regional meet, an athlete or relay team must finish in the top four places.

CHS boys, girls golf teams place 10th at regionals

The Caldwell boys and girls golf teams placed 10th last week at the Region 3 Tournament at Bearkat Course in Huntsville. The Hornet boys led by Grant McManus had a two-day total of 175, and he posted his second- best round of the season after shooting an 81 on day two.
THE SOMERVILLE LADY YEGUAS WILL play Leon in a best-of-three series in bi-district on Friday and Monday, April 28 and May 1. Game 1 will be played in Somerville Friday and Game 2 will be Monday in Leon. If a Game 3 is needed, it will be played following Game 2.

Lady Yeguas hold on to beat Normangee 20-18

Last Monday, Somerville had to hold off a Normangee charge for a 20-18 win to end district play. The Lady Yeguas jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first.

Last week in the Lady Hornets’ final district game of the season, Fletcher was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a home run. She also scored twice and had three RBIs.

Last week, Cowan won the boys high jump at the area meet with a leap of 6 feet seven inches. He also placed second in the 300-meter hurdles, the long jump and the triple jump.

Somerville loses early lead, falls to Richards 16-6

The Someville Yeguas fell to Richards 16-6 in a Tuesday, April 18, road game. Somerville scored four runs in the top of the third for a 5-1 lead before Richards rallied in the bottom of the third with four runs to tie it at 5-5.
