Hornet golf, tennis win district titles!

The Caldwell High School boys golf team won the district championship last week, and the girls placed second as both teams advanced to the regional tournament. The district tournament was played on Monday, March 27, and Tuesday, March 28, at Colovista Golf Club in Bastrop.

Lady Yegua softball splits with Iola, Burton

Last week, the Lady Yeguas split their district games with Iola and Burton, beating Iola at home and falling to Burton on the road. Somerville won last Tuesday 18-8 over Iola, outhitting the Lady Bulldogs 10 to 3.

Caldwell, Snook run at Lexington Eagle Relays

Last week, the Caldwell and Snook track teams competed at the Lexington Eagle Relays with the Caldwell varsity girls placing third in the team standings. The Lady Hornets finished the meet with a total score of 64 points, just two points behind host school Lexington with a second place score of 66.

Hornets fall in two league games to Taylor, 2-1, 10-0

The Caldwell Hornets fell to Taylor 2-1 last Tuesday at home, giving up the winning run in the sixth inning, and then lost 10-0 in the second round road game with Taylor on Friday. In game one, the Hornets and Ducks were scoreless through four innings and tied 1-1 after five innings.

See, Smitherman, Groce named Academic All-State

Three Snook basketball student-athletes were recently selected to the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Academic All-State Basketball Teams. Caleb Edward See was named to the first team boys’ Academic All-State Basketball Team, and Samuel Quincy Smitherman was named to the second team.

Weiss gets 400th win

Last Tuesday, Caldwell softball coach Wendy Weiss hit a big milestone with her 400th career win when the Lady Hornets blanked Giddings 15-0 in three innings. What makes this even more special is that all 400 have been in Caldwell.

Snook golf team wins district championship

The Snook Bluejays golf team won the District 26-2A title on Monday, March 27, at Hilltop Lakes Golf Club in Normangee. The Bluejays finished with a team score of 405, finishing one stroke ahead of Normangee, 406. Burton placed third with a 493.

CHS girls, boys finish third at Skrabanek Relays

Last week, Caldwell High School welcomed several other schools to run in the annual Happy Skrabanek Relays last Thursday. Both the Caldwell varsity girls and boys finished third in the team standings. The girls were third with a total score of 104.5.
