Snook Lady Jays fall to Bremond in area round 18-3

Last Thursday, the Lady Jays saw their season end in the area round of the UIL Class 2A Softball Playoffs. Snook took on Bremond at Navasota High School, falling to the Lady Tigers 18-3 in five innings. Snook fell behind early and couldn’t recover.

Sodolak named to Academic All-State

Snook’s Payton Sodolak was recently named to the Texas High School Coaches Association’s (THSCA) Academic All-State Softball Team. THSCA released the names of those selected on Monday, May 8. Sodolak was an Honorable Mention selection.

TTCA selects 4 CHS tennis players for Academic All-State

The Texas Tennis Coaches Association (TTCA) recently announced its 2022-2023 Academic All-State Award Recipients, and four Caldwell High School student athletes were on the awards list. The four athletes honored were: * Waylon Chapman. * Connor Hughson * Gabe Pipes.

Lady Hornets land 11 on All-District Team

Officials with District 22-4A have released its All-District Team, and 11 Lady Hornets earned All-District honors with Callie Fletcher leading the way -- selected as the District 22-4A MVP. Fletcher was the pitching ace for the Lady Hornets. This season, she pitched 105.

Last Friday, there was no calm before the storm in Navasota with the Lady Hornets in town taking on Houston Washington in bi-district at Navasota High School. The Caldwell offense was too strong for Washington, coasting to a 15-0 win.

Mathis advances to Class 4A UIL State Track & Field Meet

Last weekend, Caldwell’s Ja’Asia Mathis punched her ticket to the UIL Class 4A State Track & Field Meet by winning the UIL Class 4A Region 3 girls long jump title. The regional meet was held at Bullard High School. Mathis won gold by leaping a distance of 17 feet 10.5 inches.

Carter advances to state meet

Somerville’s Brandyn Carter placed second in the triple jump at the UIL Class 2A Region 4 Track & Field Meet held at Javelina Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M - Kingsville last weekend. Carter won the silver medal with a leap of 43 feet 7 inches.

Hughson, Chapman compete at state tennis tournament

Caldwell’s Connor Hughson and Waylon Chapman competed in the UIL Class 4A State Tennis Tournament in boys doubles last week at the Annemarie Tennis Center in San Antonio. The duo fell in the first round to Eli Frosch and Kayden Lengacher of Kaufman 0-6, 3-6.

Becker throws shutout in Lady Jay bi-district win

Last Thursday, Snook ace Aubrey Becker threw a seven-inning shutout against Centerville to lead the Lady Jays to a 9-0 win in Caldwell. Becker allowed only one hit, striking out 16 and walking one.
