Somerville dominates in 69-20 win over Runge

The Somerville Yeguas defeated Runge 69-20 on Thursday, Dec. 29, at home to improve to 8-10 overall with nondistrict play winding down. Somerville never trailed with leads of 20-7 in the first quarter, 35-13 at halftime and 53-18 after three quarters.

Yeguas fall to Thorndale 80-42

The Somerville Yeguas fell far behind early against state-ranked Thorndale and lost 80-42 last Tuesday, Dec. 20, in Thorndale. The Yeguas trailed 24- 6 in the f i r s t quarter and 40-16 at halftime before getting their offense going in the second half.

Somerville, Snook players earn All-District honors

A total of 20 Somerville and Snook football players were recently named to the All-District 14-2A Football Team. Somerville players named to the first team offense were sophomore quarterback Ian Teague, senior wide receiver Dameon Bryant and senior offensive lineman Jesus Espinoza.

Somerville girls fall to Brazos Christian

The Somerville Lady Yegua varsity basketball team fell to Brazos Christian last Monday 53-28. Destiny Vela led Somerville in scoring with nine points. Ra’Maya Carter added eight points in the loss. Bryanna Surovik led the Lady Yeguas in rebounds with six.

Caldwell football players earn All-District honors

Nine Caldwell High School football players have been named to the All District 12-4A Division II Team. Caldwell had two first team players, four on the second team and four on the honorable mention team.

Lady Jays lose 2 before Christmas

The Lady Jays played two games before taking some time off to celebrate Christmas, falling to Marlin 50-19 last Monday and to Fayetteville 32-23 last Tuesday. The Marlin defense held Snook to shooting only 17.6%. Marlin also outrebounded the Lady Jays 42-27.
