Lady Yeguas trounce Iola 18-1

The Lady Yeguas crushed Iola 18-1 in a three-inning affair last Friday. Somerville took a commanding 15-1 lead in the first inning. All three of Ra’Maya Carter’s at bats were in the first inning -- as the lead-off batter and the final batter of the inning.

Yeguas lose two games to Fayetteville, 9-2, 18-0

The Somerville Yeguas baseball team lost two games to Fayetteville last week, 9-2 on Tuesday, March 29, in Fayetteville, and 18-0 on Friday, April 1, in Somerville. In game one, Fayetteville built a 6-1 lead through three innings with Somerville scoring one run each in the second and fifth innings.

Snook hosts Bluejay Relays

Last Thursday, Snook High School hosted the second annual Bluejay Relays at Bluejay Stadium. The varsity boys placed third in the team standings with a total score of 93, behind Navasota with 124 points and Brazos Christian with 95.

Snook offense on fire in victories over Richards

The Snook Bluejays defeated Richards 17-15 in a back-andforth road game on Tuesday, March 29, and again 13-6 on Friday, April 1, at home. In game one, Snook rallied from a 7-0 deficit in the second inning with one run each in the next three innings to cut Richards’ lead to 7-3.

Lady Jays fall to Burton, Normangee

The Lady Jays had a rough week, falling to Burton in a heartbreaker 6-5 and to Normangee 9-0. At home last Tuesday night, Snook chiseled away a 6-1 Burton lead to 6-4 by the bottom of the seventh inning.

Caldwell Track runs at Giddings

The Caldwell track team ran in the Giddings Buff Relays last Friday. Varsity Girls Those Caldwell Varsity Girls who placed were: * 200-meter dash: Daisha Denson, 28.17, fifth. Marlynise Ponce of A&M Consolidated won this event with a time of 26.94. * 800-meter dash: Ryan Ferguson, 2:45.
