The Somerville Yeguas defeated Richards in two high-scoring district games last week. The Yeguas won 13- 12 on Tuesday, April 5, at home and 20-13 on Friday, April 8, in Richards. In game one, the Yeguas won in 11 innings with 15 hits, 11 walks and one stolen base.

The Lady Yeguas and their opponents scored a total of 66 runs last week in two games -- resulting in a 25-14 Somerville win over North Zulch and a 19-8 loss to Burton. Last Tuesday on the road, both Somerville and North Zulch had hot offenses going.

The Lady Jays split their district games last week and fell to Normangee on the road 12-2 before bouncing back to defeat Mumford at home 8-2. Jalee Baumann led the Snook offense against Normangee, going 1-for-2 at the plate hitting a homer and earning two RBIs.

Lady Hornet golfers take first in district

The Caldwell Lady Hornets golf team won the district title and advanced to the regional tournament on Monday, April 4, after completing their second round of the district tournament at the Wildflower Golf Course in Temple. The girls team finished the second round with a team score of 481.

Last week, Somerville hosted the District 26- 2A Tennis Tournament, and several Yegua players qualified for the regional tournament -- including district mixed doubles champs Emma Kovasovic and Cullen Sablatura.

Somerville, Snook players earn All-District honors

Six Somerville players and six Snook players earned All-District 26- 2A basketball honors for the 2021-22 season. Snook’s Kaleb Carroll was named the district Co-Offensive Most Valuable Player (MVP) along with Izaha Jones of Normangee.
