Caldwell Junior High track competes at district meet

The Caldwell Junior High School track teams recently competed at the District 19-3A Track Meet in Rockdale. The eighth-grade girls team finished third with a score of 116 points. Academy won the team title with a score of 128, and Cameron Yoe was second with 126.

Lady Hornets blow out Rockdale

A 12-run fifth inning led the Lady Hornets to a 21-3 road win over Rockdale last Tuesday. Caldwell already had a 9-3 lead before the Lady Hornets put some sting into their bats in the top of the fifth inning.

Hornet defense solid in Rockdale, Rogers wins

The Caldwell Hornets built a four-game winning streak with road victories over Rockdale, 13-2 on March 29, and Rogers, 7-2 last Friday, April 1. Against Rockdale, Caldwell jumped to a 4-1 lead in the first inning and added three runs in the top of the fifth and five in the top of the sixth.

Carter named to All-Region TABC team

The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) recently announced its All-Region Teams, and Somerville’s Ra’Maya Carter was named to the Class 2A Region 4 squad. The Lady Yegua junior averaged 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game during this season.

CHS boys, girls finish second at Happy Skrabanek Relays

Both Caldwell varsity track teams finished second while hosting the Caldwell Happy Skrabanek relays last Thursday. Also, both teams earned their placing with identical scores of 118 points.

Lady Jays beat Lady Yeguas 8-2

The Lady Yeguas struggled at the plate and had a tough time defensively containing the Snook offense, resulting in an 8-2 loss to their rivals, the Lady Jays, last Friday night in Snook.

Caldwell High School’s Connor Hughson won a boys’ singles title and Karly Fritsche and Alejandro Zapata won a mixed doubles title at last week’s Rudder Ranger Varsity Roundup.

CHS soccer loses in bi-district

The Hornet soccer team’s historic season came to an end at the hands of Sealy last Thursday night in Sealy. The first playoff game in Caldwell High School soccer history resulted in a 5-0 loss to the Sealy Tigers in the bi-district round.

Verkobe Woodberry Yegua Powerlifting At the Texas High School Powerlifting Association (THSPA) State Meet last week, Woodberry lifted a total of 1,030 pounds to earn him the silver medal in the 132-pound weight class in Division 4.
