FFA Bass Club does well at lake

The Caldwell FFA Bass Club had a great showing at Lake Somerville on Saturday, Oct. 30. Four of the six teams weighed in fish. The team of Kaden Schroeder and Brayden Titzman with Captain Vince Neal placed 16th overall, out of 173 boats, weighing in two fish for 6.23.

Lady Jays corral Lady Horns in straight sets 25-15, 25-14, 25-14

The Lady Jays finished regular season play on Tuesday, Oct. 26, with a three-set win over Dime Box Snook 25-15, 25-14, 25-14. Snook completed the season with a 4-10 district record and earned the third seed for District 26-2A in the UIL Class 2A Volleyball Playoffs.

Yeguas dominate in 50-6 win over Bartlett

The Somerville Yeguas 50-6 road win over Bartlett last Friday secured them a playoff berth, but now even more is at stake. Burton’s recent forfeit of some district victories gave the Yeguas a forfeit win over the Panthers, improving their district record to 4-1.

Snook JH places 4th at district

The Snook Junior High School volleyball “A” team placed fourth in the district tournament before completing its season with a win in Dime Box last Tuesday. Snook beat Somerville in the tournament 21- 25, 25-16, 15-10, before falling to Round Top-Carmine in three sets 25-19, 15-25, 12-15.

Hornets fall to Lorena 56-0

The Caldwell Hornets fell to Lorena 56-0 last Friday in Caldwell. The Hornets fell to 2-7 overall and 0-5 in district play, while Lorena improved to 7-2 overall and 5-0 in district play.

Lady Yeguas beat Lady Jays in Burleson County Showdown, Part 2

Both the Lady Yeguas and the Lady Jays are headed to the Class 2A UIL Volleyball Playoffs. Somerville has the clinched the Number 2 seed from District 26-2A and will play Holland in the bi-district round, and Snook will play Thorndale in the first round.

Somerville, Snook XC run at regionals

Cross country runners from Snook and Somerville competed at the Class 2A Region IV Cross Country Meet on Monday at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. In the girls 2A 3,200-meter race, Somerville’s Destiny Vela finished 28th with a time of 14:06.39.

Lady Hornet cross country team finishes 13th at Regional Meet

The Lady Hornet cross country team finished 13th in the team standings at the UIL Region III Class 3A Cross Country Meet on Monday. The meet was held at Kate Barr-Ross Park in Huntsville, hosted by Sam Houston State University. Caldwell finished with a total score of 369 to place 13th.

Snook offense rolls in 56-8 win over Bartlett

Five different players scored for Snook as the Bluejays amassed 448 total yards in a 56-8 blasting of Bartlett in last Friday’s homecoming game. Snook improved to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in district play with two games left.
