CHS VBall alumni game set for Aug. 7

With Lady Hornet volleyball season starting very soon, its time for the alumni scrimmage. The game is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. until noon. All former Caldwell High School volleyball players are invited to attend and/or participate.

BC Saddle Club holds 2021 Youth Rodeo

The Burleson County Saddle Club held its 55th annual Youth Rodeo last weekend with young cowboys and cowgirls from all over the state participating. Boy and girl competitors participated in three divisions 9 & Under, junior (ages 10-14) and senior (ages 15-19).

Deanville Reds 12U makes solid run at Zone Tourney

The Deanville Reds 12U Pony League baseball team had a strong showing during playoff bracket play at the Bronco 12U Zone Tournament in Deer Park last week. The Deanville 10U team also competed in Deer Park last week, but in the Mustang 10U Zone Tournament.

Two place well at state 4-H shooting competition

Burleson County 4-H Shooting Sports had two youth place well at the 4-H Shooting Sport State Game the week of July 13-18 in Manor. Barrett Warren of Snook competed at state for the first time as a junior shooter in eight different events and placed in all of them.

Jungman sets his sights on Olympic gold in Tokyo

Caldwell’s Phillip Jungman has dreamed of this week since he started competing in International Skeet events at the age of 11. Jungman, U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit team member, is about to make his Olympic skeet debut in Tokyo.

His awards include Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and the International Distinguished Shooter Badge #517.

Snook athletic camps set for next week

Next week, the Snook athletic department will hold its annual volleyball and football camps. There will be two volleyball camps running Monday through Wednesday, July 26- 28. One will be for incoming second through eighth-grade students from 9-11 a.m.

Caldwell Vball camps to run July 26-28

The Lady Hornet coaching staff will hold two volleyball camps July 26-28 at the new high school gym. Lady Hornet varsity head coach Jane Anne Giese will be both camps’ director. Incoming fifth through eighth-graders will meet from 9-11:30 a.m.

Somerville Lady Yegua softball player Kailey Eldridge was recently named to the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Class 2A All-State Softball Team as a pitcher for the Honorable Mention squad. TSWA released their All-State team rosters on Saturday, July 10.
