Snook Lady Jays crush North Zulch 18-3

Avery Kovar had the hot bat last Monday, racking up four hits to lead the Lady Jays to a 18-3 victory over North Zulch. Kovar singled in the first, tripled in the third, doubled in the fourth and doubled in the fifth out of five at bats, resulting in six RBIs and scoring three runs.
CALDWELL TENNIS players Neva Cravens, Waylon Chapman and Adolfo Gaucin advanced to regionals after competing in the District 19- 3A Tennis Tournament last Thursday. Gaucin won the boys’ singles title, and Cravens and Chapman placed second in Mixed Doubles.

Adolfo Gaucin, Neva Cravens and Waylon Chapman have advanced to the Region 3 Class 3A Tennis Tournament on April 26-27 at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station.

CHS girls finish 3rd at Area Track Meet

The Lady Hornet track team finished third in the team standings at the 3A Area 19-20 Track and Field Meet last Wednesday in Crockett. The team scored 63 points, behind Cameron Yoe with 140 points and Fairfield with 134 points. The Hornet track team was eighth with 36 points.

Snook ISD hosted the Class 2A Area District 25/26 Track and Field Meet last Wednesday, with several Snook and Somerville athletes winning their events or qualifying for the regional meet.

Lady Eagles spoil Parents Night for Lady Hornets with 5-3 win

Even though Caldwell had out-hit Lexington 10-8, the Lady Hornets still fell 5-3 on Tuesday at home. In the first inning, Lexington got their offense started. With two outs and two runners on base, the Lady Eagles scored their first run on a 0-2 count single.

Somerville Little Dribblers advances to nationals

The 2021 Little Dribblers Regional Tournament was held in Somerville during the week of April 8-10, with Somerville boys 14u winning the championship in a best-of-three game series against Normangee -- winning 2-0.

The Caldwell Junior High Lady Hornets golf teams place second and third at the recent Cameron Junior High Golf Tournament. Maddie Schneider was second-place medalist, and Kate Hill tied for third.

Hornets get big wins over Lexington, Florence

The Caldwell Hornets built a 3-0 lead through five innings and then held on to defeat Lexington 3-1 last Tuesday at home before hammering Florence 22-0 in a rain-delayed Saturday game in Florence. Travis Balcar pitched a no-hitter for Caldwell against Florence.

Yeguas fall twice to Burton, still alive for playoff spot

The Somerville Yeguas fell to Burton in two games last week -- 13-1 at home on Tuesday, April 13, and 7-2 in a rain-delayed game on Saturday, April 17, in Burton. In game one, Cullen Sablatura took the loss on the mound, and the Yeguas had only two hits versus Burton’s pitcher Tyle Schween.

The Lady Jays grabbed the lead late in the game in a 9-7 victory over Iola last Tuesday. Iola had a 4-1 lead going into the fifth inning, when the Snook bats woke up, scoring six runs. Nadia Garcia walked to lead off the inning, followed by a Jaycie Brisco single.
