Franklin wins playoff series over Caldwell

Franklin won twice last week in Navasota to take the best 2-of-3 series from Caldwell 11-6, 17-7. On Thursday, the Lady Hornets faced off against both the district champs of District 2-3A, the Lady Lions of Franklin, and the weather.

Snook falls 9-2 on road to RTC

The Snook Bluejays fell to Round Top-Carmine 9-2 on Tuesday, April 27, in Carmine. A second game, originally scheduled for Friday, April 30, in Snook was initially postponed and then canceled due to field conditions. Snook also lost to Somerville 15-8 on Monday, April 26, in Somerville.

CHS girls win region, advance to state

The Caldwell Lady Hornets won the Region 3-3A championship last Friday at the Brenham Country Club with a two-day score of 744. The Lady Hornets were led by second place tournament medalist Hannah Blaha with a 178.

Area athletes qualify for State Track

All three Burleson County high schools will be sending athletes to the UIL State Track & Field Meet next week. The Somerville Lady Yeguas’ 4x200-meter relay team of Ra’Maya Carter, Emma Kovasovic, Xadria Martin and Camia Martin won the Region 4 Class 2A title with a time of 1:48.8.

THE HORSESHOE PITCHING team of Danny Patterson and Doris Hieden defended their A-Class Texas Horseshoe Pitching Association (THPA) State Doubles title last Saturday. They won the title in 2019 and were not able to compete in 2020 due to COVID-19.

Lady Yeguas win district title!

The Lady Yeguas are the 2021 District 26-2A softball champions. The team clinched the The team clinched the title last Monday, beating Normangee 10-0 in five innings, before winning Round 2 of the Burleson County Showdown on Tuesday against rival Snook 13-8.

Lady Hornets beat Florence, fall to Academy

The Lady Hornets team went 1-1 this past week to end, defeating Florence on Monday in a previously postponed game 17-2 and losing to the district champion Academy Lady Bees on Tuesday 7-0.

CHS FFA bass fishing competes at regionals

Two fishing teams from the Caldwell FFA chapter competed in the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) Regional Tournament at Lake Palestine last Saturday. The duo of Collin Burgess and Carson Parker placed 55th, catching four bass totaling 6.4 pounds in weight.

Caldwell Jr. High girls win Rockdale Tourney

The Caldwell Lady Hornets Junior High golf team placed first at the recent Rockdale Tournament. Tanzley Johnson tied for first place. The girls team includes Johnson, Emily Smith, Kori Archer, Jordan Perkkio, Macelynn Smith and Sarah Boniol. The boys team placed fourth.

Hornets fall to Rockdale, beat Little River-Academy

The Caldwell Hornets out hit Rockdale in a Monday road game, postponed due to rain on Friday, but lost a close one 4-2. The Hornets lost depite holding the Tigers to just two hits. The loss came after a 6-4 home win over Little River-Academy on Tuesday, April 20, at home.
