CHS, SHS tennis send seven to regional tourneys

Two Caldwell High School athletes and five from Somerville High School will be playing this week at regional tennis tournaments.Caldwell’s two was scheduled to compete at the UIL Class 4A Region 3 Tennis Tournament at Rudder High School in Bryan on May 7-8 -- both in the boys singles bracket.

Hornets beat Royal in 2 games for bi-district

The Caldwell Hornets continued another special championship season last Saturday with a pair of 10-0 wins over Brookshire Royal in the bi-district playoff in Fayetteville.

Snook falls to Iola in two games

The Snook Bluejays fell to Iola 20-0 at home on April 22 and 10-0 at Iola on April 25 to conclude their season.Snook finished 2-16 overall.Iola opened the scoring with 7 runs in the top of the first inning and added 13 runs in the top of the third.

The Caldwell Hornets defeated La Grange 8-3 last Friday, April 25, in a neutral site at Navasota to determine playoff seeding for postseason.Caldwell, 16-9 headed into the playoffs this week, also defeated Iola 4-1 on Saturday, April 26, in Iola.
