Hornets win 6-1 at home over Smithville

The Caldwell Hornets defeated Smithville 6-1 on Saturday, March 28, in Caldwell for their first district win.

Vykukal wins gold at Caldwell Tourney

Caldwell hosted a tennis tournament last week, with Caldwell’s own Landon Vykukal winning the boys singles title.Vykukal advanced past James Kuehl of Giddings in the first round, and then beat Carson Jewell of Normangee in the quarterfinals 1,0.

Somerville falls 11-3 to CTC in Temple

The Somerville Yeguas fell to Central Texas Christian School 11-3 last Friday, March 27, in Temple.The loss dropped the Yeguas to 3-13 for the year.CTC built a 3-0 lead through the first two innings before Somerville scored in the top of the third.

Burton shuts out Snook in two games

The Snook Bluejays lost twice to Burton in district games last week -- 16-0 on Tuesday, March 24, in Burton, and 14-0 at home on Friday, March 27.In game one, Burton built a 10-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and added six runs in the bottom of the second.

Lady Hornets beat Navasota 14-7

Caldwell’s Mesha Johnson was 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Caldwell past Navasota 14-7.Johnson hit a home run to left field in the second inning and singled in the first and sixth innings.

Snook’s Dudensing wins three golds at Iola Bulldog Relays

Snook’s Barrett Dudensing won place first in three events at last week’s Iola Bulldog Relays 2026.Dudensing won first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:08.68.He also won first in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:54.23 and first in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:34.87.

CHS tennis plays in Viking Classic

Last Friday, the Caldwell tennis team traveled to Bryan to play in the 2026 Bryan Viking Classic.In boys singles, Felipe Gaucin won his first round match over Ian Byun of Liberty Hill 3-5, 5(13)4(11), (11-9).

CHS falls to Navasota in district opener

The Caldwell Hornets fell to Navasota last Friday 5-2 in their district opener at home.The loss followed a 5-4 home win over Thrall on Tuesday, March 17, in their final non-district game.

Lady Yeguas cage Lady Jays in district opening series: 16-1, 19-1

The Lady Yeguas and the Lady Jays opened district play by playing their rivalry series last week.The first of two games was held in Somerville with the Lady Yeguas beating the Lady Jays in two and one-half innings 16-1.
