Lady Hornets place third at Lexington HS Meet

The Lady Hornets placed third in the team standings at the Lexington Meet last week.Caldwell scored 59 points for the bronze, with Giddings placing first with 76 points and Academy coming in second with 68 points.Somerville also competed at the meet, finishing 13th with three points.

Lady Jays fall to Mumford 20-0

After Mumford scored 11 runs in the top of the first inning, there wasn’t much the Lady Jays could do to get back into the game.The Lady Mustangs scored five more runs in the top of the second and another four more runs in the top of the third to 10-run-rule Snook in three innings.

Hornets sweep Smithville

Last week, Caldwell swept Smithville in a two-game series 6-1 and 2-0.During last Tuesday’s home game, Caldwell got on the board first in the bottom of the second due to a ground out by Cason Russ.The Hornets then began to break away when they scored five runs in the fourth inning.

Lady Yeguas sweep Milano 14-0, 13-3

The Lady Yeguas had an easy time last week, sweeping the series with Milano 14-0, 13-3.Last Monday in Milano, March 30, Emma Williams was 3-of-4 from the plate, including a solo homer in the fifth inning, to lead Somerville to victory.Williams also scored four runs and had two RBIs.

Lady Hornets edged by Smithville 4-3

In dramatic fashion, the Lady Tigers posted three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-3 lead over the Lady Hornets, and then held Caldwell scoreless in the final inning for the win.This away game was held March 31.

Caldwell, Somerville compete at CJH Relays

Caldwell and Somerville junior high athletes competed in the Caldwell Jr. High Relays in March.8th-grade Boys * 3200-meter run: Ryan Burns, Caldwell, 10:03.60, fourth.Omar Campos of Giddings won this event with a time of 9:14.41.* 4x100-meter relay: Caldwell, 49.60, second.

Hafernick, Schluens advance to regionals

Caldwell freshman Jordyn Hafernick placed third and Caldwell sophomore Cooper Schluens placed sixth on March 23-24 at the District 22-4A Tournament in Navasota, with both advancing to the regional tournament.The 4A-Region 3 Tournament will be held on April 13-16 at Bearkat Course in Huntsville.

The Lady Yeguas lost two district games to Burton last week.Last Tuesday, Somerville was on the road, falling 11-2 in Burton Burton opened the game with two runs in the bottom of the first.

Ellis breaks Caldwell record at Mart Relays

Caldwell track phenom Spencer Ellis broke the school record in the boys 3,200-meter run at the Mart Edd Burleson Relays.Ellis placed second with a time of 10:12.70, breaking the old school record’s time of 10:15.13.Cristiano Tinoco of Bosqueville won this event with a time of 10:09.50.
