Snook powerlifting lifts off season

Both the Bluejay and Lady Jay powerlifters began their season at meets at Anderson-Shiro over the past two weeks.Snook girl lifters were at the Anderson-Shiro Girls Meet 1 on Jan. 16, finishing third as a team with 31 points.

Lady Yeguas suffer two district losses

Due to the weather closing down schools in the local area, the Lady Yeguas’ home game against Iola which was scheduled for last Tuesday was moved to Thursday -- with Somerville losing 54-17.Coach Josh Vela said, “It was a rough and physical game, and we struggled to make our open shots.

Yeguas struggle in Bremond, Iola losses

The Somerville Yeguas, continuing to struggle with ball control, lost to Bremond 61-28 last Friday, Jan. 24, in Bremond.The lost dropped Somerville to 1-7 in district play. Somerville also lost to Iola 60-48 on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at home.

Snook controls fourth in win over Somerville

The Snook Bluejays have had a good week, earning wins over district rivals Snook, Burton and KOR School in a non-district game to improve to 15-10 overall and 4-2 in district play.Snook dominated the fourth quarter to defeat county rival Somerville 51-36 on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Somerville.

Lady Jays soar past Lady Yeguas 57-27

Alana Stringfellow led the Lady Jays past the Lady Yeguas on the road in Somerville 57-27.Stringfellow had a huge second quarter, scoring 13 of her 23 points.Snook took a 14-4 lead after the first quarter, led by Braynija Pool’s five points in the frame.
