Hornets grab early lead, smash Smithville

Vas t ly improved Caldwell struck quickly and emphatically in the first quarter and delivered three TDs before Smithville could respond and rode the momentum to a 49-24 home win last Friday.

Lady Jays beat North Zulch

The Lady Jays easily beat North Zulch at home on Friday in straight sets 25-10, 2514, 25-6.Dakota Kienow led the Snook offense at the net with five kills.Marissa Batiste led the team in assists with eight and in aces with seven.

Somerville wins 32-6 over rival Snook

The Somerville Yeguas capitalized on some big offensive plays, balancing runs and passes, in a 32-6 victory last Friday over rival Snook for the Baker Highway Trophy.Somerville outgained the Bluejays 356-209 in total yards despite having only 20 offensive plays for the entire game.

Elkins, Collins finish 7th in 1st bass tourney of year

Caldwell’s Cody Elkins and Gracie Collins finished seventh at the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) tournament on Lake Limestone on Sept. 14.The duo caught four fish with a total weight of 9.4 pounds. Wyatt Beasley also competed and caught one fish weighing 1.38 pounds, finishing 77th.

The Lady Yeguas lost a heartbreaker to Allen Academy on Tuesday, Sept. 17 falling in five sets 26-24, 22-25, 22-25, 25-19, 10-15.Grace Greiffenstein led Somerville at the net with 13 kills and three blocks.Vivianna Munoz had a great match with 19 assists, 25 digs and three aces.

Lady Hornets go 1-1 with BV teams last week

Last week, the Lady Hornets hosted two area home school teams, going 1-1.On Tuesday, Caldwell hosted Aggieland Home-School, beating the Lady Panthers in straight sets 25-18, 25-18, 25-10.Junior Tyniah Johnson led Caldwell at the net with 13 kills and a block.

CHS JV VB goes 1-1 last week

The Lady Hornet JV volleyball team went 1-1 last week, losing to Aggieland HomeSchool on Tuesday in two sets 19-25, 25-27, and then defeated BVCHEA on Friday in two sets 25-22, 25-22.
