Ellis wins Kolache Krunch

Caldwell High School cross country runner Spencer Ellis won last Saturday’s Kolache Krunch 5K The 16-year-old won the race with a time of 18:04.9, finishing almost 11 seconds ahead of second place runner Douglas Allaire of College Station.

CHS vball falls to 2 state-ranked teams

The Lady Hornets had a rough week last week taking on two stateranked teams on the road, falling to both Class 1A Number 1 Iola and Class 3A Number 11 Anderson-Shiro.Last Tuesday in Iola, Caldwell fell to the Lady Bulldogs 12-25, 12-25, 17-25.

The Somerville Yeguas played it like the book says -- mistake-free, balanced offense and ironfisted defensive line play -- in a 21-14 home win last Friday over Hempstead.The Yeguas improved to 2-1 headed into a home district opener with Snook this Friday.

The Lady Yeguas went 1-1 last week at home.Last Tuesday, Somerville fell in straight sets to BVCHEA 14-25, 1925, 10-25.Grace Greiffenstein led Somerville with five kills.On Friday, Somerville hosted Dime Box, with the Lady Yeguas beating the Lady Horns in straight sets 25-11, 2512, 25-16.
