Lady Hornet JV gets first win of season

The Lady Hornet JV volleyball team played five matches last week, and and came away with their first win of the season at Anderson-Shiro on Friday.They followed the win with a win Saturday morning in Leon against Teague at the Leon Tournament.

Hornets give up big plays in Robinson loss

The Caldwell Hornets built a 20-16 lead on Robinson through three quarters before giving up some big fourth quarter plays in a 31-20 home loss last Friday.

Lady Hornets drop 2 last week

The Lady Hornets had a rough week last week, dropping two home matches -- to Burton and Lexington.Last Tuesday’s Burton match was a fiveset marathon match, with Caldwell falling to the Lady Panthers 17-25, 27-25, 12-25, 27-25, 16-18.

The Running Bluejays placed second in the varsity boys standings in last Saturday’s Caldwell Invitational Cross Country Meet.Snook finished with 89 points, behind first place Aggieland Home-School with 16. Allen Academy was third with 105 points.

The Caldwell team tennis team is a perfect 4-0 in district after a come-from-behind 10-9 win in Thrall on Monday.The match began with seven doubles matches where Thrall won five of them to take a 5-2 lead into singles play.

Lady Yegua volleyball goes 1-1 last week

The Lady Yeguas went 1-1 last week.On Tuesday, Somerville hosted Bartlett, winning 25-15-, 25-14, 25-17.Anette Reyna led Somerville with seven kills, four aces and nine digs.On Friday, the Lady Yeguas traveled to Milano, falling to the Lady Eagles 12-25, 19-25, 18-25.

SHS’ Vela runs at Brenham XC meet

Somerville’s X’Zavion Vela finished 17th in the varsity boys’ race for Class 1-4A at last Saturday’s Brenham Hillacious Cross Country Meet.Vela crossed the finish line with a time of 12:22.00.Jacob Pol from The Woodlands won the race with a time of 11:26.00.

Somerville struggles in 63-21 Weimar loss

Th e S ome r v i l l e Yeguas fell behind early and gave up 377 rushing yards in a 6321 road loss to Weimar last Friday.The Yeguas dropped to 1-1 overall.Somerville trailed 22-6 in the first quarter and 43-13 at halftime before giving up three more TDs in the third.

Tarkington rolls in 44-6 win over Snook

The Snook Bluejays fell to Tarkington 44-6 last Friday in a road game delayed for more than an hour by an electric power outage.Snook trailed 16-0 at halftime, and electric power to the stadium went out for about an hour and a half, taking out the stadium lights.Play resumed at about 9 p.m.
