Snook’s Ethan Janac finished fourth in the boys varsity race at the McGregor XC Invitational on Aug. 31 at Bluebonnet Park in McGregor.Janac finished with a time of 17:31.5, only 26.6 seconds behind the race winner, John Kuzmich of Fairfield with his time of 17:04.9.

Lady Jay vball falls to #7 Fayetteville

The Lady Jays put up a fight last Tuesday night in Fayetteville, but fell to Class 1A Number 7 Fayetteville Lady Lions in four sets 22-25 27-25, 25-20, 22-25.The Snook offense was led by Dakota Kienow with 17 kills and an ace and Paisley Sodolak with 11 kills and three aces.

Snook struggles in 34-0 loss to Leon

The Snook Bluejays played Leon tough in the first half, holding the Cougars to a 7-0 lead, but Leon’s offense rolled in the second half for a 34-0 win in Snook.It was the season opener for both teams and the opening game for new Snook Head Coach Nolan Lanham.

Both Caldwell and Snook cross country teams competed in the Midnight Sun (Night Race) in Cameron, with Caldwell’s Abby Lopez and Snook’s Ethan Janac both finishing fourth in the varsity races.Lopez was fourth in the girls’ varsity race with her time of 13:24.50.

Lady Yeguas place 4th in Hearne Volleyball Tourney

The Lady Yeguas played in the Hearne Volleyball Tournament last Thursday and Saturday, placing fourth.On Thursday, Somerville split its matches with Buffalo and Dime Box, going 1-1 with a 1725, 23-25 loss to Buffalo and a 25-12, 25-16, 2520 win over Dime Box.

The Lady Jays placed second in the Hearne Volleyball Tournament which was held last Thursday and Saturday.On Thursday, the Lady Jays started began the tournament by beating Hempstead 25-14, 25-12.Then, Snook beat Trinity 25-11, 25-20.

The Lady Hornets competed in the Waller Volleyball Tournament last week, placing second in the Bronze Bracket.Caldwell fell to Port-Neches Groves in the first match on Thursday 20-25, 21-25.Reese McManus led Caldwell at the net with six kills.
