Somerville softball falls to Iola, Burton

The Lady Yeguas lost two district games last week, falling to Iola and Burton.Last Tuesday on the road, Somerville lost to Iola 12-2, despite outhitting the Lady Bulldogs.Abigail Flencher and Aubrey Kovasovic each collected two hits for the Lady Yeguas in the loss, and each drove in a run.

The Hornet tennis team brought home several trophies from the Thrall Invitational Varisty Tennis Tournament last week -- including second place trophies for boys singles and doubles.

CJH eighth-grade girls earn silver at zone meet

The Caldwell Junior High eighth-grade girls placed second in the team standings at the Junior High Zone Meet in La Grange last week.The Lady Hornets finished with a total score of 182.33 to earn second place behind Giddings with 218 points. La Grange was third with 157.33.

Lady Jays soar past Lady Yeguas in Round 1 of BC Showdown 18-1

The Lady Jays flew into Somerville last Tuesday with one goal: to win Round 1 of the Burleson County Showdown. And, the Lady Jays took no time in taking control of the game in the first inning, scoring their first three runs on the way to an 18-1 win.

Lady Hornets fall to Lorena in bi-district

This year’s Lady Hornet soccer team made history -- being the first girls soccer team from Caldwell to ever make the playoffs.However, Caldwell was assigned the difficult task of playing Number 10 Lorena in bi-district on Monday at Lake Belton High School -- and fell to the Lady Leopards 12-0.

Caldwell’s Phillip Jungman fought his way from 10th place at the USA Olympic Trials in Men’s Skeet to fourth and an alternate spot on the U.S. Shotgun Team for the Olympics, after the conclusion of the U.S. Olympic Trials-Shooting Shotgun Part 2 in Tucson, Arizona, over March 11-17.
